Applicants should be adaptable and enjoy working as part of a team and should be in sympathy with the aims of a church school. They must have high expectations of pupils in both their achievement and behaviour. Applications are welcome from both experienced teachers and newly qualified teachers. The successful candidate will have teaching responsibility for a KS1 class for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Responsibilities.

• Plan and prepare lessons and schemes of work which fulfil the demands of the National Curriculum and the aims of the school, and which take account of school policies, guidelines and schemes of work and which are differentiated and appropriate to the needs of individual children.
• Create a well organised and stimulating learning environment in the classroom.
• Mark and assess pupils’ work and record and report their achievements, in line with school policy and guidelines.
• Be responsible for the discipline and pastoral care of children in their own class by talking and listening to individual pupils and communicating with children, parents, other teachers and outside agencies.
• Keep records and provide information for reports on the social and special needs of pupils, as appropriate.
• Communicate and consult with parents of pupils.
• Participate in meetings and provide / contribute to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual or groups of pupils.
• Promote a positive image of the school to pupils, parents and visitors.
• Support the aims and ethos of the school.
• Be an effective team member, supporting other staff and recognising and using personal strengths and those of others.
• Register the attendance of pupils and supervise them for the agreed period of time before and after school, during assemblies, breaks and school sessions.
• Give clear direction to non-teaching staff that are assisting you in your work and ensure effective use of their time.
• Be mindful to the health and wellbeing of the children.
