Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums (TWAM) is a major regional museum, art gallery and archives service. We manage a collection of nine museums and galleries across Tyneside and the Archives for Tyne and Wear.
We are seeking a creative and highly motivated art specialist to join the Hatton team to deliver a busy exhibition programme and manage the gallery’s outstanding art collections.
The Hatton Gallery has been at the heart of cultural life in the North East for over 90 years. A Grade II listed building in beautiful surroundings on Newcastle University campus, the Hatton has a changing programme of exhibitions, from new works by contemporary artists to historical displays. It also showcases Newcastle’s bright new talent through its student exhibitions.
A degree or equivalent qualification or experience in visual art /history of art with a strong interest in modern and contemporary art, experience of working with collections including documentation, interpretation and exhibition organisation are essential.
This is a fixed term post to cover the secondment of the current Keeper of Art to a significant research project supported by the John Ellerman Foundation.
