The Council’s in-house Legal Services team are looking to recruit one lawyer (Child Care) to contribute to the work of a team of experienced and dedicated child care lawyers.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the conduct of a significant caseload of child protection cases. You will be a confident and skilled solicitor/ barrister with experience of having the conduct of a range of cases which will include section 31 applications, section 39 discharge applications, s17/ s20 Children Act 2002 disputes, and secure accommodation applications.

The work will be varied and provide experience across many interesting areas including applications under the Children Act 1989 the Adoption and Children Act 2002 and related local authority legal issues such as judicial review of decisions relating to powers and duties under the Children Act 1989.

The caseload will be made up of complex litigation, to include undertaking advocacy and to instruct counsel when necessary.
