Further information

The Council’s in-house Legal Services Team seek to recruit two experienced and knowledgeable contracts and procurement lawyers (one permanent position and one for a two year fixed term contract).

Your main responsibilities will include drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts and public sector agreements; advising on public procurement law; advising on contractual disputes; providing support and management throughout various procurement processes; assisting with the contractual implications of GDPR and liaising with Senior Officers as appropriate.
A qualified solicitor or barrister or fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives holding a current practising certificate, you will bring plenty of in-depth knowledge in the areas of Contracts and Procurement. With relevant experience in these areas, you will advise and communicate with in-house clients and colleagues. You will have an eye for detail and good organisational skills, which will enable you to carry a substantial workload. Flexible and innovative in your approach, you will help us to positively develop new areas of practice.

If you would like to be part of a dynamic, busy and friendly team committed to providing an excellent legal service in this vital area of work we would very much like to hear from you.

Could applicants indicate which post they would be applying for (Permanent or Fixed Term) in their application form.

If you require further information about the position please contact Liam Henry, Legal Services Manager on 01670 623324 or via e-mail at liam.henry@northumberland.gov.uk or Helen Lancaster, Principal Solicitor on 01670 623323 or via e-mail at helen.lancaster@northumberland.gov.uk .
