Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to work with the Art Galleries team to contribute to the delivery of the Hatton Gallery Learning Programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to begin a career in the cultural sector. We want to share our skills and experience and build a more diverse workforce. As an intern, you will be learning on the job with a supervisor to support you. You will learn new skills and gain valuable experience of working in an art gallery environment.

Duties will include development of formal learning workshops and resources for schools, colleges, universities, adults and some community groups participating in learning activities in the gallery. The role also involves delivery of the workshops to visiting groups, as well as giving tours and talks.
As part of resource development research will be undertaken into the collection and current exhibitions. Outreach activities will also be delivered to schools and community groups.

We are looking for individuals who have a passion for modern and contemporary art, knowledge of museums’ and galleries’ learning programmes or an interest in working in the sector. Applicants must also have practical experience of working with children and young people and/or community groups.
