New College Durham Academies Trust comprises of two large Academies, Consett Academy and North Durham Academy, located some six miles apart in North West Durham. New College Durham, is our lead sponsor and both Academies are located in multi million pound new builds, offering unrivalled state of the art facilities for our students and communities in Consett and Stanley.

The Trust is seeking to appoint a Learning Resource Centre Manager to join our Student Support Team at North Durham Academy, ideally for a September start. This is an exciting time to join our trust, in a newly established role.

Learning Resource Centre Manager
Grade 5 - £22,916 - £26,149 pa (which reflects actual salary)
37 Hours per week Term Time plus 5 additional days

The successful applicant will manage and develop the LRC in line with the Academy Development Plan, supporting teaching and learning within curriculum departments through students’ use of the LRC and the provision of resources.

The successful applicant will hold a degree or equivalent in librarianship or Information Management accredited by CILIP or degree in any subject (preferably English) followed by an accredited postgraduate qualification in information management or work-based training and CILIP qualification.

Your love of books will be infectious and you will disseminate and encourage ‘a love of reading’ to our students - leading, delivering and monitoring the impact of specific programmes designed to enhance the literacy of students, e.g. Accelerated Reader Programme.

If successful, you will be responsible for sourcing, managing and maintaining stock on a daily basis, ensuring value for money and submitting bids to access funding pots to enhance the life chances of our students.

You will be expected to supervise students during LRC opening hours – leading homework clubs which promote student academic, social and cultural development.

You should be compassionate and be able to deploy a wide range of interpersonal skills, together with strong behaviour management. It is essential you have effective time management skills and can work using your own initiative. You will be required to work flexibly according to the needs of the Academy.
