Further Information
This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

This post is based at the centre of the council in the Resources Directorate which has key responsibility for managing the council’s money and people as well as ensuring that democratic decisions are well informed and legally sound.

We are seeking applications for this post from candidates who are looking for a full time or part-time role. We are in a position to be flexible about working arrangements and it would be helpful to state in your application form the working hours/pattern that you would ideally wish to undertake.

We are seeking a legal assistant to join our Property and Commercial Team, dealing with contract drafting, contractual disputes, and providing advice on general contract and procurement issues to the Council’s various service areas, including advice on the Councils contract procedure rules.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in an office environment with a general understanding of the Councils Constitution. Applications would be particularly welcomed from candidates with experience of drafting legal documents and undertaking legal research.

We are a small service and, accordingly, are seeking candidates who are flexible in their approach to work and who can engage with clients in a pragmatic and helpful way.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact: Andrew Nixon (01642 444536) or Steve Newton (01642 444648).

The council is an accredited Investors in People employer at gold level and holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.

We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.
