Further Information
With funding from the Department for Transport's Access Fund, Darlington Borough Council is rolling out an extensive programme of Personalised Travel Planning (PTP) across jobcentres, workplaces and the local community.

The Local Motion Travel Advisors are a key part of this programme and will provide residents with specific information and advice about the ‘travel choices’ that are available to them. In 2017/18, the PTP project will look to target up to 15,000 households. Each of these households will be visited by a Local Motion Travel Advisor who will be tasked with engaging residents in a conversation and discussing the households travel patterns with a view to encouraging residents to change their travel to more sustainable behaviours where possible including walking, cycling and public transport.

In 2017/18, the project will target jobcentres, households and businesses across the Tees Valley (Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar & Cleveland). The Travel Advisors will be expected to work across all project areas and have regular contact with staff from all of the local authorities that are involved in the project and with external stakeholders.

As the Local Motion Project covers a wide geographical area, your work base will change periodically as the project progresses. You must therefore be able to begin your working day from any location within the Tees Valley.

For detailed information on this role, please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification.
