Hours of work will be Monday – Friday 11.45 am – 1.15 pm (7.5 hours per week), term time only plus 3 training days.
The Governors of Thomas Bewick School are looking for Lunchtime Supervisory Assistants to join the friendly team of staff providing support/ care to children and young people during the midday break. Thomas Bewick is a school for children and young people, aged 3 - 19 on the autistic spectrum.
The candidate must have experience of working with or caring for children and be able to:
• Establish positive relationships with children
• Communicate with children in a way that they can understand and relate to
• Engage and motivate children to join in organised play activities
• Deal with any challenging behaviour in a patient, quiet manner
• Be sensitive to the differing needs of children
• Work effectively as part of a team.
The school is strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to obtain an enhanced Certificate of Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and go through a range of other recruitment checks.
Posts will be based either at our primary department on Linhope Road or our secondary department based on West Denton Way. Training and support will be provided to the successful applicant.
