A vacancy has arisen for a very rewarding and interesting opportunity to support and develop a young girl. The role of MSI intervenor is to effectively facilitate access to information usually gained through sight and hearing and other senses that is incomplete or missing for this young girl. There is a team of MSI Intervenors who work on a two to one basis following a waking day curriculum designed by Deafblind/MSI experts. For the right person, who has potential, there is the opportunity for career progression in this role.

The normal place of work is at home with experiential learning in the community undertaking various activities to meet the required developmental objectives.

This is a part time role that encompasses a significant amount of training in various aspects of supporting a Deafblind/MSI person. The normal weekly hours are flexible but will be a minimum of 20 hours per week, however the successful candidate must be flexible to work during the week and also regular weekends with the option to work additional hours. The role will involve doing some nights respite cover each month.

Qualification Experience and skills

• British sign language level one is an advantage.
• Some experience of working in an education environment is preferred.
• Must be able to drive and use their own vehicle for transport during educational outings.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in education or health and social care is essential

• Ability to follow administrative and reporting requirements
• Have a desire to learn and undertake training in this specialist field some in their own time

• Prepared to follow a programme of activities in a structured way

Due to the specialist nature of this role there is a competitive entry salary which increases when the successful candidate is signed off as competent in role.
