Working with families where there is an assessed and measurable risk of family breakdown MST CAN is a programme of intensive work with families to change the abusive and neglectful interaction with the children and create a safe, functional environment to allow the child to remain at home. It is an evidenced based programme for families with children aged 6 to 17

We are seeking to appoint an unprogressed social worker with experience of working effectively with families in a community based setting, preferably families with complex presenting needs, e.g. child protection, mental health or substance abuse.

The social worker will operate and deliver interventions as directed by the MST CAN Therapist in line with MST CAN process and principals.

You will be able to evidence some experience in engaging hard to reach families. You will be able to gain a clear overview of complex issues and quickly identify possible courses of action based on sound analysis of the information. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

You should have a relevant Social Work qualification such as a Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, or CSS, or equivalent, and must have current HCPC registration.

Full training and continuous professional development in the MST CAN model will be provided. Therapists receive weekly group supervision from the MST CAN Manager and clinical consultation from MST Services.

MST CAN is a 24/7 service and there is a requirement to take part in the on call rota, typically this is one week in four. This is a full time post.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in a regulated activity and as such, successful applicants will require an Enhanced Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
