Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council are seeking to recruit 2 Major Development Principal Officers to join the expanding Development Management Team.

Redcar and Cleveland is an area of contrasts from rural countryside, urban and coastal towns, historic conservation areas and extensive areas of employment and industry around Wilton International, Teesport and the wider Teesworks regeneration area. The diverse nature of the Borough provides a successful candidate with a range of applications, opportunities and experiences. 
 
In this role, you will:
  • Deal with a wide range of planning applications with a focus on the more major and complex industrial and housing developments.
  • Provide advice and guidance to members of the public, applicants, agents along with elected members and Council officers.
  • Laise with consultees and developers in securing S106 contributions for major applications.  
  • Provide monitoring and training to the more junior officers within the team.
  • Provide guidance and advice to the enforcement officers within the team.
  • Have line management responsibilities for development officers within the team.While you will be responsible for your own caseload of planning applications and enquiries you will work within a supportive environment.

The role will be suitable for senior planning officers with several years’ experience looking for career progression to include some limited level of management.
