The Learning and Skills service provides

targeted careers guidance for 16-18 year olds who are not in employment, education or training (NEET), looked after children (LAC), those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those who are receiving support from Adolescent Services.

Universal careers guidance to schools and other organisations via service level agreement

work related learning experiences for school-aged children and business and apprenticeship ambassador programmes

supported internships for young people with Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP) aged 16-24

traineeships for young people aged 16-24

apprenticeships for 16+

study programmes and adult education for 16+ in second chance, technical and professional education

employability support and coaching for young people and adults on Department for Work and Pensions “Work Programme” and “Work and Health Programme” contracts, “Generation North East” and “Work X” programmes.

Working in the Learning and Skills Service, the Apprentice will support marketing and engagement projects that attract learners, interns, trainees and apprentices to the Council. They will also support business development of a range of learning projects and specialist centres. This is an apprenticeship for a candidate who intends to work towards their degree in management.

The post holder will need to have A Levels or a full level 3 qualification or higher. This is a trainee management role and would suit someone who has work experience, further or higher education. achievements. They will need to love working with people, be extrovert and dynamic. They will need to have a passion for digital and creative areas, and have a very high drive to being an excellent and confident communicator.
