Further Information
Join us as a Mayoral Caseworker

You will play a vital role at the heart of the North East Mayor’s office: helping residents feel heard, supported and understood. Every day you’ll make a tangible difference by providing timely support through responses to people seeking help, clarity or action. You will be the reassuring first point of contact for those reaching out to the Mayor, using your judgement, empathy and problem-solving skills to prioritise enquiries and deliver high-quality correspondence that reflects the professionalism and values of the Mayoral team.

Working closely with colleagues and organisations across the region, you’ll actively pursue resolutions to real issues affecting people’s lives. Whether drafting responses, researching complex matters, identifying trends from residents or preparing briefings for events and visits, every case will be managed sensitively, confidentially and in line with best practice. Your work will help shape the Mayor’s understanding of local challenges and opportunities, informing decisions across the region.

You will also play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the Mayor’s office. This will involve coordinating diary invites and meeting requests, maintaining accurate records, developing effective administrative systems and contributing to policy and research tasks as needed. This is a dynamic, fast-paced role where no two days are the same, offering a unique opportunity to gain insight into regional leadership while helping deliver positive outcomes for communities across the North East.

We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities and experiences. We support flexible working and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented including women, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.
