A unique opportunity has arisen, through a newly created post, for an experienced and innovative Occupational Therapist to join the Ascent Academies’ Trust’s multidisciplinary team. The Trust is a family of four special academies in the North East of England, over three different local authorities, and the Occupational Therapist will play a critical role within the Trust, co-ordinating OT services across all four academies.

As an experienced clinician the successful candidate will oversee a mixed caseload of primary and secondary school aged children with a range of SEND. They will work with OT Assistants and pupils, whilst also providing support to teaching and learning colleagues and other senior staff. The post holder will lead on policy development and audit in this specialist area. They will be a member of the SCERTS team, therefore experience and training in SCERTS would be beneficial. Training and experience in sensory integration is essential.

The successful candidate will work as part of the SEN team in the academies and also provide staff training and CPD. They will work with individuals to assess sensory, gross motor and independence needs, and support in the delivery of programmes to small groups and individuals.

As the post is to work between the four academies within the Trust, the post holder will require a full clean driving licence and personal transport.

Candidates wishing to work flexible working hours, job share or part time will be considered.

• Qualifications equivalent to 5 x GCSE A*-C, to include Maths and English
• Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject or hold a relevant professional qualification
• Significant experience in working with children and young people with SEND
