Having been graded as Good by Ofsted we are determined to push the service to the next level and improve things further to ensure we achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.

To do this we need the best professionals, who are motivated and determined to drive an already successful and effective service further. As a result of South Tyneside’s drive to improve we are increasing capacity and develop our staff team, that is already “stable, well supported and provides the right conditions for social work to flourish”.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing the best service for our children and young people and a working environment that allows exceptional social work practice we are further expanding our Supporting and Strengthening Families Services portfolio. This has created a role of Operations Manager, to support the Service Manager to ensure service delivery across the teams is of a high standard for our children, young people and their families and that Practice managers and Social Work teams have the right environment in which to provide this.

Covid 19 has had an impact in the way we are working, but not in our core value that we will continue to offer support and safeguarding to those children that need it the most. The Operations Manager will have direct oversight of the six social work teams involved in care planning for our children in addition to the Supervised Contact Service. This is an opportunity for an experienced Team Manager or Senior Manager to be involved in ensuring sound and timely decision making for children, supporting social work practice in a strength based way and leading the service through operational change whilst deputising for the Service Manager and facilitating strategic oversight.
