Are you a Qualified Social Worker or Approved Mental Health Professional?

If so we have the perfect opportunities for you here at North Yorkshire County Council!

North Yorkshire County Council is one of the best local authorities in the country with a growing reputation for innovative solutions, efficient and impactful services and where 89% of staff would strongly recommend us as a great employer.

We are proud of our successful track record as a leading care service provider and consistently appear amongst the top performing County Councils in the country.

Our Health and Adult service is an exciting and friendly place to work, committed to delivering services to its local community and providing opportunities for our local residents and we are looking for a Principal Social Worker as well as Team leaders of our Emergency Duty Team to join us.

Principal Social Worker:

As Principal Social Worker you will play a critical role in effecting change and improvement in social work practice across the county. You will champion high standards and drive excellence in social work and social work education over and above the threshold standards held by the HCPC, including promoting good practice, providing information and guidance and disseminating research to support improvement.

As a key member of our Health and Adult Service, your focus will be achieving transformed ways of working in line with the Care Act requirements and guidance from the College of Social Work and other relevant bodies. This transformation will involve a strong focus on person centred, strength based, community led change and achieving more efficient ways of working. You will look for examples of good practice locally, nationally and internationally to drive improvement.

Above all you will provide strong leadership to drive professional practice across all operational areas. With both strategic and operational influence you will be central to the design and delivery of our frontline services.

Team leaders- Emergency Duty Team:

The principle responsibility of the EDT is to respond to out of hours requests where intervention from the Local Authority is required to safeguard a vulnerable child or adult until the next working day.

As a Team Leader you will work as a key part of the management team to ensure safe service delivery of the EDT. This will be achieved through the supervision of staff, and ensuring effective team management by undertaking shift co-ordination, managing rotas, supporting handovers and transfer of information with daytime services.

We have well established relationships with key partners and services throughout the area to enable effective partnership working. As Team Leader you will be expected to become familiar with local arrangements and relationships, and work effectively to support these, evidencing the values of the organisation and showing a commitment to collaboration and effective solution finding to keep people safe.

The post has two functions; to support effective operational team management and to act as Practice Lead for a specific social care specialism within the service. These specialisms include Children & Young People Practice Lead and Adults & AMHP Practice Lead and we are looking for a team leader for each.

As well as a fantastic benefits package, North Yorkshire offers significant scale compared with the vast majority of other local authority areas, providing a unique opportunity to take your career in a variety of directions. Our diversity also allows us to offer some flexibility in terms of office location, centred around the needs of our customers and the achievement of visible leadership- so whilst a significant amount of your time will be spent in Northallerton,we can offer you the ability to work from other sites or from home.
