The Governing Body wish to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic, honest, reliable, hardworking Out Of School Club Leader. Candidates must be willing to have fun and enjoy working with children.

Shanklea OSSC is a leading provider of out of school club childcare for primary school children. The ideal candidate will work from our Primary School with children aged 3-11 years, they will lead a team of play workers. The working hours will be 7.30am until 9.00am and 15.00pm until 17.30pm, Monday – Friday, during School Term Time, however some later finishes are occasionally needed and will be shared fairly amongst the team.

The OOSC Manager’s role includes supervising the children, ensuring their safety at all times, engaging with them in aspects of play and conversation, setting up activities for children to optionally take part in, meet and greet parents and provide them with feedback on their child’s time at the club.

Essential Requirements:

Excellent managerial, communication and organisational skills
Relevant childcare experience
To take on the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure children are fully safeguarded
Ability to monitor and evaluate the quality of the service, ensuring that all staff work within the club’s policies, guidance, safeguarding and procedures
Ability to interact well with both children and parents
Have a thorough understanding of the EYFS framework, equal opportunities and special educational needs
Be creative with good knowledge of a range of recreational and physical past time activities for children to participate in
Purchase and monitor food supplies

Desirable requirements:

Level 3 childcare qualification or relevant experience
Has a valid Paediatric First Aid or is willing to undertake qualification
Has relevant supervisory and management experience
Knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Duties and Responsibilities to adhere to but not restricted to:

Leads and motivates a team of staff to deliver high quality play opportunities in a safe and caring environment
Encourage fair and caring behaviour among the children
Encourage independence and self-esteem
Talk to children about their concerns or worries
Deal with injuries and emergencies
Liaise with parents, carers and other professional

Staff Benefits include: Staff training and development available, accredited courses in First Aid, Child Protection, Fire Warden and Food Hygiene will be offered to all staff within their first year of employment. There will also be opportunities to attend courses e.g autism awareness, managing challenging behaviour during employment with Shanklea OOSC as well as in house workshops.
