We are seeking to appoint a full time Social Worker to join the Locality Team within Assessment & Planning, Adult Social Care.

You must have knowledge of relevant legislation including The Care Act 2014, The Mental Health Act (amended 2007) and its interface with The Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and The Hospital Discharges Act. You will have the ability to interpret this legislation and apply it to practice while adhering to the Local Authority's statutory responsibilities.

You will have a Social Work qualification (MA or BA in Social Work, Dip SW CQSW or CSS or equivalent) and be registered with the HCPC. You will have experience of working with people (and their carers) with mental health, physical health needs undertaking assessments, applying relevant criteria and where necessary identifying appropriate services to meet eligible needs. You should be competent in analysing information, assessing risk and levels of needs in line with eligibility criteria.

Previous experience of managing risk and being involved in the safeguarding process is essential.

It is essential you have effective communication skills, committed to equal opportunities, anti-oppressive practice and interagency working. You must have excellent IT skills and the ability to prioritise your workload and diary and manage competing demands. It is essential that you are able to work as part of a team and use your own initiative and have the ability to identify when support, advice and guidance is required. Maintenance of the Local Authority's social care database including the accurate recording of case observations is essential.

It is also essential that you have a current driving licence and access to a car or means to mobility support.

A commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to undertake relevant training as required by the Local Authority is essential.
