A primary school in North Tyneside is working with First Class Supply to appoint a SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant. The position is on a part time basis - Afternoon sessions, and will commence in October 2016 till December 2016. You will need to quickly establish good working relationships within the teams of various schools. This is also an excellent opportunity if you are seeking permanent employment as introductions to new schools often leads to future positions.
This is a large two form entry school, with in excess of 40 staff members, which has been awarded Outstanding status by Ofsted. Achievement and progress improved rapidly following the introduction of new leadership, high expectations of the pupils have ensured that attainment is above average. Teaching and behaviour are excellent contributing to a highly effective school.
Your duties will be to assist the class teacher with activities, and to give additional support to small groups or pupils on a one to one basis. We are interested in hearing from you whatever your experience with SEN pupils may be as we currently work with schools supporting a range of SEN including Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Sensory Impairment, Behavioural Difficulties and more.
Successful applicants will:
• Ideally hold a Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant child care discipline
• Have experience of working within a school, nursery or education setting
• Be committed to making a real difference to the lives of pupils
• Be pro-active, enthusiastic, energetic and reliable
• Be eligible to work in the UK
It would be beneficial if you hold a current:
• First Aid Certificate
• Team Teach Certificate.
