Hotspur is a vibrant primary school in Heaton that serves a richly diverse community. We are looking for an enthusiastic Support Assistant to join our team in January 2017. This is an exciting opportunity to join an experienced and innovative team of staff committed to providing exciting, memorable and effective learning for our children.

Phonics Support Assistants work with individual and small groups of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children for 2 hours a day Monday – Thursday (9.30am – 11.30am). Training will be given to enable the successful candidates to understand how to support children in their phonics learning.

Availability to attend the training sessions in December will be required by the successful candidate.

The successful candidate should:
• be highly motivated with a commitment to raising standards
• be successful in building positive relationships with all members of the school community
• have good skills in written English including spelling and grammar
• have clear diction
• be caring, committed and cheerful
• be a quick and thorough learner.

Interview day: Thursday 10 November 2016
Training sessions: 9.15am – 11.15am, Thursday 1 and Thursday 8 December 2016
