To achieve this we will provide you the following:
• A bespoke ‘core skills’ training programme designed by our specialist training provider;
• Monthly reflective case supervision provided by our trained management team;
• Peer supervisions;
• Monthly personal supervisions to ensure you are supported and have the opportunity to develop and progress your practice and career;
• Access to online research and resource facility;
• A manageable caseload, to ensure you have the time to work with children and families to achieve change and produce your best practice;
• A stable and permanent practice management team;
• A visible and approachable senior management team , who encourage your views and ideas on how we can develop our service;
• A supportive and learning environment. We understand the demands on social workers and what you need to ensure you are able to practice safely;
• Opportunity to enrol on our practice educator training programme, should you wish to help train student social workers;
• A career pathway that will provide you the opportunity to gain the necessary experience to work towards, positions of senior social worker, assistant team manager and management positions;
• Flexible working and the opportunity to take 2 days ‘flexi leave’ per month;
• Mobile working, meaning there are times when you can work from home.
Our workforce say they are well supported, feel safe to practice in a child centred way and are excited by the launch of our Strength Based Approach to working with families. They are excited by the move towards Relational Practice, based on getting to know children, their families and networks around them, working with them and not to them, building the partnership to support them and the training and support they will have to do this from the management team, Director and Members. The training, resource and time is in place to take this to the next step.

The Council place a heavy regard for the service, investing in them continuously and believing in what they do. This allows for innovative and exciting opportunities for staff, the introduction of a Connected Persons Team and Families First (Edge of Care) to support the work of Social Work Teams and allow them to plan and progress things for families in the direction they need is an example of the responsiveness of Senior Leadership to manage the pressure on Social Worker in today’s climate.

We have vacancies for experienced workers due to internal promotion and development opportunities, whether to Snr Practitioner or Practice Manager level, or to new roles such as ASYE mentor who work without an allocated caseload to nurture less experienced staff. There is a recognition that staff have areas of interest and we strive to support them in the training and development of this, for example in Pre-birth, Participation and Sexual Exploitation, where they then foster these skills in developing partnerships with other agencies.
