A Practice Lead, Social Work Academy is required on a temporary basis until 31st December 2018.

Salary: Grade 12 £34,538- £38,237 (salary on appointment is determined by length of service and level of experience).

The recruitment and support of Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) is vitally important to the future of Children and Young People’s Services. The Social Work Academy was launched in 2016 to provide innovative programme of support and development designed to help NQSWs through their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE), and allow them the time they need to build their skills and experience.

Throughout their time in the Academy NQSWs receive:

• High levels of support, offered by a dedicated Practice Lead;
• Reduced caseloads, with a phased approach to increasing the volume and complexity of their workloads over the course of the year;
• An extensive programme of learning and development opportunities, with protected time to participate in them.

To enable us to increase the number of NQSWs the academy can support we are recruiting a second Practice Lead. This role would suit an experienced social worker with a real interest in supporting the development of others.

To be the right person for this role you will:
• Be an experienced social worker with significant experience of working with children and young people;
• Have experience of practice education, and of supervising/mentoring other practitioners;
• Be able to role-model the personal qualities that we expect of our NQSWs: initiative, adaptability, motivation, relationship building, problem solving, self-awareness and communication.

Required qualifications: Social work qualification. Current HCPC social work registration. Practice educator qualification or commitment to work towards the qualification.

We recommend that interested candidates contact Shelley Gill, Practice Lead tel: 03000 267563 for an informal conversation to help you gain insight into the role. Candidates are also welcome to contact Judith Rayne, Operations Manager, tel: 03000 266318.

The appointment for this post is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Serve Enhanced level check.

It is anticipated that interviews will take place on Wednesday 13th December 2017.

Apply on-line or for further assistance contact the HR Operations & Data Team on Telephone: 03000 267247 (24hr answerphone). Email: hrCYPS@durham.gov.uk
