As a Principal Contracts Officer, you will play a central role in overseeing the Tyne Tunnels Concession, working closely with the Concessionaire to manage operational, commercial and contractual matters. You will help to ensure that the tunnels continue to operate for the benefit of tunnel users and the wider region, supporting the objectives of the Mayor’s Local Transport Plan and Local Growth Plan.
You will also act as a key representative for the North East Combined Authority, deputising for the Head of Transport Contracts when required and supporting strategic planning for the long-term management of the Tyne Tunnels. Your work will involve analysing performance data, reviewing financial and risk information, managing specialist advisors, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks. You will produce clear, informed reports and briefings for senior audiences and respond professionally to public and stakeholder enquiries.
Alongside your technical and strategic responsibilities, you will support and guide colleagues, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team environment. You will work closely with internal and external partners to promote integration with the wider transport network and contribute to the North East CA’s ambitions.
