Job Description:
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, efficient and motivated individual to join the Civil Engineering Design Team within Design Services of Economic Growth and Development.
Reporting to the Design Services Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of a significant capital programme of civil engineering works that are predominantly highway related. In addition the team is responsible for the inspection of the Authorities highway structures and you will be expected to assist in the management of the Council's highway structures.
The successful candidate will take a leading role in the development and management of the team in conjunction with other Principal Engineers.
You should have a relevant degree and experience in the production of highway related schemes and be conversant with the DMRB and procurement through the NEC and other relevant highway contracts.
In addition you will need to be proficient in the use of AutoCAD and demonstrate a sound civil engineering background and knowledge. Knowledge of the preparation and supervision of contracts for highway works would be an advantage.
You should also be able to demonstrate a flexible and organised approach to your work and have good communication and interpersonal skills. Applicants should have experience of and be confident in the use of Microsoft Office applications and be particularly adept with Word, Excel and Outlook.
