Further Information
This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious Council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast-paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

The Adults & Communities Directorate, consists of four strands, Adult Social Care, Community Development, Neighbourhoods and Public Health. Our aims are to continue to provide essential and highly valued services and to build capacity to enable local communities to make lasting change, improve quality of life, prosperity and the environment. As a directorate, we lead on developing a culture of co-operation and co-production; respecting and nurturing the skills and talents of local people and enabling them to fulfil their potential.

We place significant value on social work principles within our workforce to support our approach to Adult Social Care. We are committed to work in partnership with the people of our borough to develop and maintain independence, with a developing focus on an asset based approach.

In the role of Principal Social Worker, you will take the lead in promoting social work values and practice across the Adult Social Care workforce within a supportive, enthusiastic and committed team of experienced professionals. You will support the implementation of key social care agendas, provide a quality audit and assurance function, and fulfil the role of Caldicott Guardian.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate leadership, is passionate about the delivery of high quality social work, and strives for continuous professional development in all areas of Adult Social Care practice.

You will be a creative problem solver, a strategic thinker, and self-motivated with an ability to communicate with people at all levels; including with those who are involved with Adult Social Care.

As an experienced, registered social worker you will be confident to challenge practice where required and enable practitioners within Adult Social Care to reflect and learn within a supportive environment.

This is a superb opportunity to assume a senior leadership role where you will be supported to deliver real practice improvements across Adult Social Care; as well as being able to make a positive contribution to ensure that those with care and support needs achieve positive outcomes.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Victoria Wilson, Head of Service - Adult Care, on 01642 444322.

The authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an enhanced disclosure & barring service check (DBS) will be sought.

The Council is an accredited Investors in People employer at gold level and holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.

We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.
