An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, innovative and self-motivated individual to join the Private Sector Housing Team.

You will work within a small team with a view to improving housing conditions within the private rented sector.

Key tasks will include:

- Inspecting and assessing dwellings and houses in multiple occupation
- Responsibility for dealing with issues arising from tenants' complaints relating to housing defects and deficiencies.
- Working with owners and landlords offering advice and assistance on improving conditions and management practices.
- Taking robust action where necessary using the enforcement powers available to secure improvements.

For this post you will need to have a flexible attitude, be able to demonstrate good communication and IT skills and be willing to work both as part of a team and individually. Applicants must have experience of the private sector housing field, housing standards, the Housing Health and Safety Rating System along with an understanding of the legislation, regulations and codes of practice relevant to taking enforcement action in relation to improving housing conditions.

Experience of preparing and producing witness statements, case files and attending court and/or tribunals to give evidence as and when necessary would be advantageous but is not essential.
