Sunderland City Council is seeking two suitable candidates to join our Corporate Procurement team as Category Officers to provide a professional, customer-focused service within a Category Management Framework.
It is planned that the post holders will predominately work on low risk contracts and will be expected to work flexibly across the Work Programme on a variety of categories supporting the Category Managers within the team. The post holders will develop and implement procurement scoping strategies to determine the optimum route to market for a diverse range of contract opportunities within agreed resources and timescales.
The post holders must have excellent communication, IT and writing skills. The post holder must also possess an understanding of procurement and a working knowledge of relevant procurement legislation and emerging government agenda including the principles of achieving best value without compromising on service delivery.
A key outcome is to achieve best value and cost effectiveness, via innovative approaches with an emphasis on minimising costs and commercial risk whilst achieving cash releasing savings without impacting on quality.
The Salary range is £25,463 - £28,221 / £33,136 - £37,107 (progression rules apply)
