An exciting opportunity has arisen to help support the development of the local authority led North East Migration Partnership, the role of which is to consider asylum seeker and refugee issues affecting the region. The Partnership is part of a national network that has been in existence for over ten years and also reports into the North East Leaders and Elected Mayors group.
The Partnership brings together representatives from the Home Office, Department of Communities and Local Government and Local Authorities alongside other statutory agencies such as the Police and Health, as well as voluntary and private sector organisations who deliver asylum and refugee services.
As a key member of a small team, your role will be to assist in developing and servicing vital communications, helping with key initiatives, improving information and sharing good practice within the Partnership from national, regional and local sources.
You will assist and support the management and delivery of key projects with the team and its partners; helping to improve partnership working, coordination of governance structures and delivery practices on a wide and varied work programme for the region. This includes for example, improving migration/refugee data and information, providing responses to policy changes and improving processes for the resettlement and unaccompanied children programmes.
A good communicator you will be confident in dealing with a range of customers and partners and adaptable in what is a changeable working environment.
Working for Middlesbrough Council, as the host organisation, currently located within the Civic Centre you will support the Partnership's North East Manager, Officers and Lead Member / Councillor.
