Gateshead Council are seeking to recruit a leader to support the Council and wider system to realise the ambitions outlined in the Health and Wellbeing Strategy and the broader Gateshead Thrive Vision.

The successful post holder will support the development of a Public Health and Wellbeing offer for the residents of Gateshead. The post holder will increase the application of knowledge and intelligence across the system by raising awareness of existing products and demonstrating good practice, with a key focus on applying relevant products to the local context and sharing learning back with the regional network of knowledge and intelligence leads. Health protection surveillance will also be a key part of the role.
You must be qualified to a degree level or equivalent in a subject with a substantial analytical/ statistical content and hold a Master’s or equivalent in public health, statistics or a related field.

You must have extensive experience of information management and analysis, applying PHE/ NICE etc. models to a local context to influence decision-making and using statistical techniques for surveillance, needs assessment, audit and commissioning support

It is essential that you have knowledge of local, regional and national health needs and priorities and national strategies relating to behaviour change / health and wellbeing principles and applications of health economics, health and related data sources, flows and definitions and applications of statistical analysis to policy questions. Substantial experience of influencing health and care decisions at board/executive levels and working in a senior cross sectoral/ organisational or regional role is also required.
