An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and experienced Public Health Lead to join the Public Health team within Sunderland City Council. The team is committed to the challenge of delivering improvements in health outcomes and reducing health inequalities for local people.

We are seeking an individual with drive, ambition and leadership skills to make a significant contribution to our adult health improvement team by developing and implementing a range of evidence based public health strategies and programmes. The role will also require the line management of identified posts within the adult health improvement team. The post holder will have a cross department lead to provide specialist public health nursing advice, to maximise the public health contribution of nursing and allied health professionals and to lead the implementation of clinical governance arrangements for commissioned public health services.

A high level of intellectual rigour, political awareness, negotiation, motivation skills, and flexibility are required as well as an ability to understand other cultures, advise, challenge and advocate to enable effective working across organisational boundaries by influencing without direct authority. Applicants must hold a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

The post will offer the opportunity to be involved in different aspects of Public Health, and flexibility is important.
