Further Information
We are seeking to recruit to a challenging and rewarding post in the Public Health Team based at Gateshead Civic Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to help secure improved wellbeing for all of Gateshead's residents. You will join a team of motivated staff in carrying out innovative Public Health programmes and projects to narrow gaps in health inequality, reduce inequity and to drive forward the Council's commitment to enabling all residents to thrive.

You will work on public health programmes as required across the team. You will be responsible for action and policy related to substance misuse. Our priorities include continued development of our model of integrated services, including pathways with mental health teams, reducing alcohol-related hospital admissions, alcohol-free childhood and drug-related deaths. You will work closely with providers including the Gateshead Recovery Partnership, and colleagues in the Council, the NHS and the third sector, as well as with local communities.

You will bring a population health perspective to the development and redesign of services, and be an effective Practitioner with a track record of delivery of Public Health programmes and approaches. It is essential that you have a relevant Health or Social Care qualification at post-graduate level, and good knowledge of health care, public health and social care policy and intelligence. You should have a track record of achieving change working across organisational boundaries, and good project management skills. You should have experience of commissioning services, and managing budgets and performance.

For an informal discussion regarding this post please contact Gerald Tompkins, Consultant in Public Health on 0191 433 2914.
