The Sensory Teaching, Advice, and Resource Services (STARS) is a statutory service providing support for learners with hearing and/or sight loss from birth to 25 years across the four local authorities of Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton, and Hartlepool.

STARS work closely with learners, their families, educational settings and a range of agencies and professionals. At Middlesbrough Council, the STARS team is part of the wider Inclusion and Specialist Services Support team (ISSS).

We are looking for an enthusiastic, versatile, and committed Qualified Teacher of Visually Impaired Children and Young People.

Essentially, candidates will:

Demonstrate outstanding teaching with a passion and commitment to make a real difference to the lives of children with visual impairment.

Advocate for positive outcomes for visually impaired children and young people.

Be enthusiastic, self-motivating and able to demonstrate flexibility in your style of approach.

Have a caring and patient nature and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Be comfortable with delivering training to a varied audience including school staff and multi-disciplinary agencies.

Be a team player and be able to contribute to the shared responsibility ethos of our team.
