Post: Residential Worker
Salary: Grade 7, £22,401 - £25,463
We are looking to appoint eight full-time permanent Residential Worker to care for and co-ordinate the activities of young people on a day to day basis, so that good outcomes are achieved in respect of the quality care standards.
The postholder will work alongside young people ensuring their best interests and well-being are prioritised, keeping them safe whilst developing their potential within and outside Aycliffe Secure Centre.
You will be required to work to Children's Homes Regulations and Youth Custody Service guidance to provide for young people's physical and emotional needs as necessary. The postholder will keep accurate records, prepare reports and contribute to the young people's care planning, reviews and meetings as required.
Postholders will work in partnership with young people, their families and professionals to ensure good outcomes for the young people. This includes promoting positive life styles by encouraging healthy eating, participation in Education and providing stimulating activities as well as managing risk taking behaviours.
There is also a requirement to provide appropriate boundaries for young people. Helping to control challenging behaviour which requires resilience, self-awareness and acute interpersonal skills. The centre provides care for young people from a variety of backgrounds requiring staff to be aware and sensitive of an individual needs.
The role entails shift working between 7.30am and 11pm on a rota basis with some sleep-in duties
Essential Qualifications:
* 4 GCSEs (grade A – C) including Maths and English or equivalent and/or
NVQ Level 3 in Child Care or willingness to achieve within 18 months of
commencement.
* Commitment towards undertaking and maintaining required training standards
in accordance with the updated career pathway.
