An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Rural Economy Lead who will lead on the implementation of the council's economic strategy for the rural area in addition to being responsible for developing and supporting rural economic partnerships and institutions and for influencing, securing and managing major programmes of external funding that would benefit the rural area.

If you are interested in this position you must have knowledge of rural economic issues, national and local strategies relating to the rural economy, national and regional rural business and employment support structures, systems and services, including the role of public sector funding, appraisal and evaluation techniques and financial management and monitoring procedures.

You must also hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification, although substantial and relevant experience may be acceptable as an alternative.

You must have experience of providing professional economic advice and analysis at a senior level, have played a role in economic research and analysis and the successful development and implementation of economic policy and have a track record of working in partnership with the public, private and/or third sector

You must also have experience in making funding applications and managing funding streams, in developing, commissioning and delivering economic programmes, projects and/or services and in using oral and written communication skills to influence people and present complex information clearly and concisely.

The preferred working times are three days a week of equal hours.
