A special school in North Tyneside has a current vacancy for an experienced SEND Teacher to work with secondary aged pupils. The role has arisen due to a recent increase in pupil numbers, and will be for the duration of the summer term in the first instance.

A dedicated school for young people aged two to nineteen with severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties, they meet the needs of a range of young people in a variety of different ways including a sensory support service for children with hearing and visual impairment.

Some of the aims of the school are to develop lifelong learning, widen aspirations, empower families, maximise independence, nurture values of respect and friendship and extend creativity.

To be successful in the role you will have gained experience with pupils who may be on the Autistic Spectrum or who have profound and multiple leaning difficulties.

In addition you will:
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status
  • Have a minimum of 6 months recent experience
  • Be committed to making a real difference to the lives of pupils
  • Be able to work independently, using your initiative
  • Take direction to adapt and meet the needs of the team
  • Be pro-active, enthusiastic, energetic and reliable
