A special needs school in South Shields is currently looking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant with experience of EBD / SEBD, to support a child on a 1:1 basis. The role is on a full time basis to begin in February 2017 for the duration of the academic year.
The teaching is good overall at the school and the teachers skillfully manage their classrooms to enable all pupils to contribute in lessons. Although the starting points for most pupils here are much lower than the national averages their achievements at the school are good. The behaviour of pupils within school is good and often outstanding. On their journey through the school, the personal developments of some are outstanding.

You must have a positive can do attitude and commitment to enabling children and young people to participate fully in all aspects of mainstream school life.

To apply for this role it is essential that you:

• Hold a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in childcare
• Have experience working with SEBD / EBD pupils
• Have a minimum of 6 months recent experience
• Be committed to making a real difference to the lives of pupils
• Be able to work independently, using your initiative
• Take direction to adapt and meet the needs of the team
• Be pro-active, enthusiastic, energetic and reliable
• Certified Team Teach experience is preferable
