Secretary - temporary for approximately 10 months Employer: Bridget Phillipson MP (Houghton & Sunderland South) Location: Constituency Office Salary: In line with IPSA guidelines and subject to experience Bridget Phillipson MP is currently recruiting for a bright and enthusiastic Secretary to work in her constituency office. The successful applicant will provide professional support to both the MP, Office Manager and colleagues. The role will require good written and verbal communication skills as well as IT skills. Key tasks: • Planning, prioritisation and co-ordination of own/team work • Opening and dispatching mail • Respond to and monitor enquiries by telephone, email and post from a wide range of contacts regarding a variety of
  issues. Ensuring all enquiries are dealt with sensitively and confidentially • Drafting letters and typing correspondence on MP’s behalf, including complex queries and concerns • Handling administrative arrangements for meetings and events. Receiving and welcoming visitors • Efficient data and file management in line with Data Protection Act • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation • Photocopying, filing, record keeping • Support diary management • Provide administrative support regarding budgets • Liaise with external suppliers regarding office supplies • Other tasks as directed by Office Manager to ensure the smooth running of the constituency and/or
  Westminster office.
