Are you enthusiastic about health, fitness, and wellbeing? Would you like to join an existing team of leisure professionals to help support our Active Hartlepool customers to be more active? We have just the opportunity for you!
 
We are looking to employ a Senior Duty Officer to work initially at Mill House Leisure Centre before transitioning to Highlight Active Wellbeing Hub once it opens in Spring 2026.
 
Active Hartlepool currently operates Mill House Leisure Centre, Headland Sports Centre, Brierton Sports Centre and Summerhill Country Park. With our new active wellbeing hub, Highlight, set to open in early 2026. It is an exciting time to be joining the Active Hartlepool team!
 
What is the job?
The Duty Officer role is part of a dynamic team that have a passion for health, fitness, and wellbeing. You'll be an advocate for physical activity, proactively encouraging and supporting customers to live a healthy, active lifestyle.
 
You'll be responsible for managing the full remit of the venue, while managing and helping to develop a team of staff working for you. Overall, you will provide a high-quality service to customers that is safe, efficient, and enjoyable. No two days will be the same!

What do I need?
To be a success in the role we require the following from you:
  • A passion for helping others and putting customers first
  • Have experience in a supervisory role at a busy leisure facility
  • Hold, working towards, or willing to commence a recognised management and leadership supervisory qualification within the first 6 months 
  • Hold a valid, and current St John Ambulance First Aid Qualification or equivalent. 
  • Hold a pool plant qualification with operational experience
  • Enthusiastic and able to promote the Active Hartlepool service
  • Possess experience in managing staff
  • To be a team player who is not afraid to try something new
  • The successful applicant will be required to undertake a DBS check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
