Further Information
Gateshead is launching a Complex Children in Need team (CCiN) and Rapid Response Team (RRT) to work with children and their families who are at risk of becoming looked after and/or subject to child protection plans.
The CCiN team will provide a proactive Social Work service to children assessed as being children in need and considered to be at risk of suffering significant impairment with the RRT providing a support role to such situations which require greater intensity of support outside of normal working hours . The CCiN team will be made up of Social Workers who are highly skilled in family interventions developed through comprehensive Social Work experience.
The RRT will be multi-disciplinary in nature made up of practitioners who have complementary skills and experience developed through working with families and children with complex needs. Both teams will take a systemic approach and focus on effecting sustained change that reduces the need for recourse to the looked after and/or Child Protection system. The core function of both teams will be to keep families together or reunite them quickly whilst ensuring an evidence based approach to managing risk and uncertainty.
Both teams will be staffed by practitioners who firmly believe in the power of strength based relational Social Work and have the ability to address behaviours linked to, and because of, adult and childhood trauma and compromised child/parental relationships and capacity.
We are looking to appoint a senior practice supervisor to lead the work of both CCiN and RR teams. You will have significant experience of practicing statutory child care Social Work in a multi-disciplinary setting and managing the work of child care Social Workers. You must have demonstrable skills in delivering interventions with complex and challenging families and the ability to analyse and evaluate complex situations and risk. You will feel comfortable in making justifiable professional decisions whilst working with reasonable levels of autonomy. Your knowledge base will demonstrate expert understanding of Social Work legislation and statutory guidance, assessment and Social Work methodologies, including systemic practice. You will be empathic, enabling and resilient with a 'can do', solution focussed, approach.
If successful you will need to apply for a DBS check.
