Further Information
Providing strategic procurement for Northumberland County Council & Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust; the Procurement Shared Service is a groundbreaking collaboration between Local Authority and NHS. The service, now into its fourth year, provides a sustainable and cost effective procurement service, which helps drive economic benefits and service quality for its stakeholder organisations.

About the Role

Reporting into the Procurement Business Partner (Non-Healthcare), the Senior Procurement Specialist will be responsible for the delivery of a defined number of strategic procurement activities across the two stakeholder organisations and to work effectively with a variety of professional service users.

As the role crosses both Local Authority and NHS with a Non-Healthcare focus, demonstrable expertise in Local Authority and/or Corporate category procurement is highly desirable but not essential. However, the successful applicant will demonstrate an ability to draw on a strong set of procurement skills, commercial business acumen and complex contract construction, developed over a number of years working in the public sector with experience of managing a small team of procurement professionals to deliver a wide ranging procurement work plan.

Those joining the Procurement Shared Service will have a unique opportunity to make a real contribution to shape and drive the continued progression and development of the service. Successful applicants will be proactive and enjoy being challenged by new areas and activities; they will also possess excellent communication and team working skills.

The role provides an excellent opportunity for flexible working including working within an agile environment across a number of offices including Morpeth and Cobalt Business Park, which is located close to Newcastle city centre offering easy commuting with an extensive road network.

We are committed to offering a work-life balance and as a renowned visitor destination, Northumberland is the perfect location to strike this balance.
