South Tyneside Council are seeking to appoint skilled and knowledgeable Senior Public Health Advanced Practitioners to improve the health and wellbeing of the South Tyneside population. The Public Health Advanced Practitioner will be a key leader in the South Tyneside health economy and they will:

• Make a significant difference to the Health and Wellbeing of people in South Tyneside
• Lead a range of public health programmes and provide evidenced based public health advice, expertise and support to the local population including professionals and clients
• Lead and manage Public Health Practitioners in the delivery of key strategy and programme objectives relating to the improvement of healthy lifestyles in children, adults and older people, working with other council services, and the direct delivery of a number of public health services

The full time post will be the thematic Lead for “People Live Healthy Lives” outcome area of the South Tyneside Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy. More specifically this will include taking a lead on behavioural risk factors, including drugs, alcohol, tobacco and adult obesity. The post will manage two full time Public Health Practitioners to support them in this role.

The part-time post will lead on sexual health, teenage pregnancy, public health aspects of maternity, and maternal mental health. The post will jointly manage a full time Public Health Practitioner to support them in this role.
