Council Housing, Design & Technical Services provides a wide-range of Construction Consultant Services and support to the Council, other local authorities and commercial customers. Our services span the complete design lifecycle from master planning and feasibility through to contract completion and Final Account.
We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a relevant construction degree (or equivalent) with full Corporate Membership of RICS. Reporting to the Principal Quantity Surveyor, this is a key role within the Service, where our portfolio of work includes work for schools, house building, office and leisure developments and other public sector projects.
You will also work closely with Designers/Project Managers advising on tender preparation and undertaking cost planning and pre-contract and post-contract Quantity Surveying services and have strong commercial and people skills as well as good contractual knowledge and experience of dealing with contractors.
The ability to get on well with others and be able to calmly and effectively analyse problems as they arise and then quickly reach the right decisions as part of a team is vital.
You will have a working knowledge of QS computer programmes (experience of CATO or other software measurement package is essential, CPI & NBS and an understanding of relevant health and safety regulations. In addition, experience in commercial house building and the preparation of appraisals to inform viability would be desirable.
