The SEND Support Service is reponsible for maintaining the Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP) for over 2600 children and young people. We are seeking to recruit a Senior SEND Officer to lead one of the workstreams the service are responsible for. You will lead a team of enthusiastic and committed SEND officers and EHC Plan Writers and will support the development of the service.



The team are responsible for the statutory assessment and review of children and young people's EHCPs. The successful candidate will lead their team to work proactively with parents, young people, schools and other relevant professionals to secure best outcomes for children and young people.



The successful candidate   



The successful candidate will be able to build effective relationships and will have a proven track record of effective communication with parents, children and young people. They will be able to offer appropriate support and challenge to colleagues and partners in order to secure best outcomes for children and young people. 



The successful candiate will have a good knowledge and understanding of local authority statutory responsibilities including a working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice. They will have excellent organisational skills and will be able to coordinate a team working towards service improvement. They will be familiar with understanding and presenting data and can utilise this to deliver service improvement.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975, and an Enhanced DBS disclosure will be required.
