The service works with children and young people, residents and Councillors leading and facilitating the Councils community engagement activity including children’s rights work, ward governance, community based projects, and partnerships and associated activity.

Do you have experience of working with children and young people and have a commitment to children’s rights? We are looking to recruit additional members to our team to support the rights of children and young people in Newcastle to get them more involved in the City’s democratic process, to help shape and influence services and to make the Council a fit for purpose Council.

We need flexible, enthusiastic, innovative and most importantly ‘reliable’ people with experience of working with different age groups, services and approaches. Hours will be as and when required and allocated on a project by project basis; some work will be out of normal office hours – after school or on weekends or school holidays.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.
