Please note: This vacancy is ONLY eligible for colleagues working in Housing and Property Services. Please do not apply, if you work in another service, as your application will be rejected.
We’re recruiting into the North Tyneside Living (NTL) Sheltered Housing Team, a dedicated service supporting older tenants to live independently in safe, secure, and welcoming environments.
The team supports older tenants across North Tyneside by providing safe, secure, and well-managed accommodation. Through proactive tenancy management and partnership working, the team helps improve housing stability, reduce social isolation, and contribute to the borough’s wider goals around health, wellbeing, and independent living.
The post-holder will be expected to deliver high-quality housing and support services that help older residents maintain their independence and sustain their tenancies. They will contribute to key outcomes such as improved resident wellbeing, reduced tenancy turnover, and stronger links between housing and adult social care.
The successful candidate
In addition to core responsibilities, the post-holder will be expected to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with tenants, show initiative in resolving tenancy issues, and maintain accurate records and reports. They will also need to work independently, manage their time effectively, and apply sound judgement in safeguarding and health and safety matters.
The post-holder should have strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, along with a good understanding of housing and safeguarding practices. While experience in tenancy management is desirable, training and support will be provided to develop knowledge in areas such as assistive technology, partnership working, and lone working protocols.

Our Carbon Net-Zero 2030 Action Plan
In 2019, North Tyneside Council declared a climate emergency. This declaration set a target to reduce the carbon footprint of the council’s operations, and the borough, by 50% by 2023 and to align to the Government’s net zero target of 2050.
We recognise the significant role we can play in the borough in helping to limit climate change, but we can’t do this alone; we need help from all our residents, businesses, voluntary and community sectors and of course all those who apply and work for us. Together we can make North Tyneside a sustainable place to live and work for everyone in the borough.
