Further Information
Do you relish the challenge of helping people find a route through their social welfare problems?

Are you looking for a social welfare role with a charity that's making a real difference to people's lives?

Citizens Advice Gateshead is an independent charity and a member of the national Citizens Advice network. Our vision is for a fair society for all, with lives well lived. Our mission is to mobilise knowledge so the system works, it works for everyone, and it powers the changes we need to be an equal and inclusive society. To achieve this, we deliver services locally to almost 13,000 people a year and support over 400,000 people nationally through digital advice and information services, including the discrimination advice service.

We are excited to be recruiting a Social Welfare Adviser to work alongside our generalist advice team and caseworkers and provide quality impartial advice, information and guidance through multiple channels across the full spectrum of social welfare issues including welfare benefits, employment, money advice, community care, energy, discrimination and housing. There may also be the opportunity to focus on providing support to clients relating to a particular social welfare issue or target group.

Social Welfare Adviser (SWA) posts are graded dependent upon the knowledge and experience of the post holder, with the objective of all SWAs being supported and encouraged to develop their knowledge and capability on an ongoing basis through experience and through accessing continuous professional development through a combination of coaching and training. Level 2 reflects that this is a role for someone who is fully competent in the delivery of social welfare advice, information and guidance to clients, and has at least 12 months' casework experience.

If this sounds like you, please get in touch for an application pack to find out more about the charity, the role and how to apply.
