We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Mental Health Social Worker to work within the Mental Health Team. You will have knowledge of relevant legislation with the ability to interpret this legislation and apply it to practice, while adhering to the Local Authority's statutory responsibilities. You will be committed to anti oppressive practice and equal opportunities, and have a background of multi-disciplinary and partnership working in mental health. You will carry a community and hospital complex caseload, undertake assessments and apply relevant criteria where necessary identifying appropriate services to meet eligible needs.

You will be required to analyse information, assess risk and levels of need in line with eligibility criteria. Ideally you will have experience of working in health, using the Care Programme Approach.

You must be qualified with a Social Work degree, (i.e Ba or MA in Social Work, Dip.SW.CCSW.CSS) or equivalent,) have at least 2 years post qualifying experience working within a specialist mental health team and registered with the HCPC. As an experienced practitioner you will be willing to undertake the Practice Educator Post Qualification, including supporting and mentoring less experienced staff. You must have a commitment to continuous professional development and be willing to undertake relevant training as and when required.

It is essential you have experience of working with adults (and carers) who have physical disabilities, mental health needs and learning disabilities and can demonstrate previous experience of multi-disciplinary and partnership working within mental health.

You will have excellent IT, Time Management and Communication skills, the ability to work as a team member, but also use your own initiative.

Management and organisation of your workload is essential including the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands. You will also maintain the Local Authority social care database including the accurate recording of case observations.
