We are looking for a Forensic Social Worker with experience in learning disabilities & mental health to join our enthusiastic social work team.
Forensic Social Workers in the community are commonly appointed as 'social supervisors' to patients who are subject to a conditional discharge under Section 37/41 of the Mental Health Act 1983. They will also work with other patients under other sections of the Mental Health Act 1983, who represent a risk to themselves and others.
You will be required to support and monitor the progress of the person in the community, as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team, contributing to robust risk assessments, care planning & provide regular Ministry of Justice and Social Circumstances Reports about their progress. Therefore, the successful applicant must have experience of report writing, undertaking social supervision with conditionally discharged patients and the supervision of those subject to community treatment orders.
You will be required to attend Mental Health Tribunals and Hospital Manager’s Hearings to present your reports, as well as attending and contributing to regular Care Programme Approach and Care Management Review meetings.
You will be required to source and work with forensically aware social care providers, to ensure that the service provided meets the needs of the person, as well as managing the assessed risks.
It is essential that you have a clear understanding of the Care Act and the Local Authorities statutory duties. We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment”.
