Social Worker, First Contact and Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)
Grade 9-11: £26,556 - £35,093 (salary on appointment is determined by length and level of experience)

Children’s Services are seeking a Social Worker to join our First Contact and MASH team, based in Newton Aycliffe.

The First Contact and MASH team is the “front door” for Children’s Services in County Durham. The team responds to between 100 and 200 referrals a day from a wide range of professionals who work with children and young people, the Police, and members of the public who have a concern about a child or young person. Skilled Social Workers within the team gather information, assess risks and protective factors and determine what action needs to be taken within tight timescales.

We are looking for social workers who:

• Have experience of statutory social work with children, young people and families
• Have a strong commitment to safeguarding children
• Are able to work confidently and effectively under pressure of time to gather information, assess risks and protective factors and determine action to be taken
• Are great teamworkers, able to support others, and keen to seek out the views of others or provide their views on cases

To be apply for this post you must:

• Hold a degree or post graduate diploma in social work, or equivalent social work qualification, for example the Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW), Certificate in Social Services (CSS) or Diploma in Social Work (DipSW)
• Be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Have at least 1 year of post qualification experience in social work
• Undergo Police Vetting, which us in addition to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure
